More than four decades building and leading businesses in the oil and gas industry, from exploration and production to energy services, fuel distribution and midstream.

Thomas E. Kelly graduated from Baylor University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1977. He began his career with First National Bank of Granbury and, in 1979, moved to Midland, Texas, to work for First National Bank of Midland. In 1981 he co-founded Baytech Inc.

His experience spans the full life of an oil and gas asset: prospect development, acreage acquisition, fundraising, drilling, completion, revenue distribution and the operation of producing assets. He has built a core group of long-term investors and financial institution relationships, with activity focused on the Permian Basin, the Bakken, the Bend Arch of North Central Texas and South America.

    First National Bank of Midland

    After beginning his career with First National Bank of Granbury, moves to Midland, Texas.

  3. 1981

    Co-founds Baytech Inc.

    An oil and gas exploration and production company with operations in West Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Wyoming and North Dakota.

  4. 1999

    American Petro Fina asset purchase

    Baytech purchases all of American Petro Fina’s West Texas assets for $96 million, at an oil price of $11 per barrel.

  5. 2002

    Sale to Energen

    Baytech’s Permian Basin assets are sold to Energen Corp. for $206 million.

  6. 2008

    United Fuel & Energy

    United Fuel & Energy Corp is sold to SC Fuels.
